Paper Dolls Teen Scene Cartridge Review

When I saw the cartridge Paper Dolls Teen Scene, I knew right away that I have to have one.  Few years from now my son will be a teen-ager and it would be appropriate to have this cartridge.  Besides, he is now at the stage so-called "in-betweeners" - you know, cant say he is still a baby nor a toddler but he is in that stage that he acts and thinks like a big boy and at the same time a baby when mommy is around =)

I got my cartridge 2 weeks ago and timely my son will turn 9 before this month ends.  We had plans for his birthday - an all boy celebration .... his classmates.  Sad to say we have to reset his party and it will be come December instead.

If one will search for the said cartridge, this is what you'll ever get to read and nothing more::
"Create stylish and trendy projects with the Paper Dolls Teen Scene cartridge. This cartridge has three girl dolls and two boy dolls, and each doll has ten hairstyles and twenty outfits. The clothes and hairstyles are interchangeable for dolls of the same pose so you get just the look you want. The versatility of the cartridges will surprise even the most imaginative crafters"  The description is all true and one will find all the dolls superb but here is what I have discovered:

As I was about to start making some cuts, I got confused and actually did a mistake on pressing the button.  Looking closely at the overlay, you will just see blackout figures and for me it all looks the same   I had to remember the page of the figure and put a mark on the overlay button.  I believe this is one overlay that I have to write numbers on each button because I end up having a headache that I had to pause for an hour.

Also, one has to cut all the required layers.  In my case I ignored one layer so my cut look like a browned-eye Chinese teen.  Oh well I can just use my black pearlmaker for the eyes or better yet the 3D eyes instead.

As for the shoes, I did made some cuts but at the end I just threw all the shoes because it was difficult to find the right angle before adhering.  I can perhaps use stickles or acrylic paints instead.

But all in all, I'm very happy I bought this cartridge for after all I have The Paper Dolls Dress Up and Everyday Paper Dolls cartridges =)

Christmas Tags (Ornaments)

Have you guys visited The Graphics Fairy?  I'm sure you did and maybe an avid follower =)  To date, the blog has over 3,000 graphics free for everyone. I admire all her graphics and sometimes I grab and that's what I did last year.  I grab all the birds I find so cute and I just can't resist.

At first, I don't know what to do with the birds but then after making and hanging all the 3D birds I've made for our Christmas tree last year, I decided to use the graphics as our added ornaments.  Although I've made 60 3D birds it wasn't enough BUT after adding the tag ornaments, it made our tree a beautiful and happy one.

I cut all tags using Tags, Bags, Boxes and More Cricut cartridge.  Sprayed some home-made glimmer mist using Distress inkers with a dash of Perfect Pearls.  Oh yeah, stamping is essential and I mostly used Kaiser Kraft clear stamps among others.  After adhering all the birds from Graphics Fairy, I applied silver stickles around the image. To hang the tags, I first made a mini Christmas wreaths inspired by Tim Holtz and used a silver star bunting as the loop to hang the tags.

I will definitely keep these tags as long as I live and pass it on to my son someday when he has his own family.

Winter Lace Snowflakes : Review

Ever wondered what snowflakes you can cut using Winter Lace Cricut Cartridge?  I was and that's why last year I spent few hours cutting all the snowflakes in the said cartridge.  Due to intricacies of most of the snowflakes, I suggest you cut each at least 3 inches.  Otherwise, you will be frustrated cutting it in smaller sizes like what I've experienced.  Hhhhmmmm or maybe my cutting blade was not too sharp anymore so check and change the blade.

All in all I would say it's a must to have Winter Lace cartridge because the snowflakes are too darn cute!  Besides, Sweden has a winter season and oftentimes around January, we have a snowstorm so it's kind'a cute to have snowflakes around the house or on your decorations during Christmas season ... or winter season I should say.

Graduation Owl Backpack

Just a very quick post since aside from the fact that I'm busy like a bee creating invitation cards for my son's 9th birthday, I'm sick with hard cough and stuffy nose :(  It's all my fault so no one to blame - I should have stayed at home yesterday to rest as suggested by hubby BUT I just had to work due to the trade fair going on in front of one of our shops.  Haist!  Yeah, I did buy few things but at the end I just had to give up coz I felt weak after 2 hours of going around the trade fair.

Anyway, since I'm like a snail when it comes to posting projects I have made, here is one of the projects that I've never posted hahahahahahahahaha.  Found it in my pending files to be posted =)  I made this mini backpack for a teenager who graduated from high-school last June.  Inside the backpack we hid money as graduation gift.  This is not my first time to make a backpack but the first one which I did few Christmases ago was literally made from scratch BUT this one I used the Sesame Street Seasons Cartridge cut into 11" then the owl itself was cut at 3 1/2" using Straight from the Nest Cartridge.

Other materials used were XL Tree Puncher, MS Picket Fence border punch, Stickles, 3D eyes, Congratulations sticker, and a Swedish graduation toothpick =)

Confirmation Card + Envie

What is Confirmation?

con·fir·ma·tion/ˌkänfərˈmāSHən/ - which means (in the Christian Church) the rite at which a baptized person affirms Christian belief and is admitted as a full member of the church.


When a client asked me to make a confirmation card for a 15 year old boy, I was totally excited and at the same time nervous simply because it would be my first time to make a confirmation card.  Normally I'm asked to make Christmas, Birthday, Anniversary, love, invitations of all sorts.

Do you remember the day you had your confirmation?  I do!  In fact, I have few pictures and I believe I was not 15 but 10 years old and it happened during my elementary days at Holy Spirit School of Quezon City in the Philippines.  It's a beautiful memory .... I felt that we were all angels dressed in white and oh so prim and proper hahahahahahahahaha.

Anyway, enough of my blabberings, here's the confirmation card I made and it's a huge one ... not the usual size of cards in the market =)

First Play with Word Collage Cartridge

My son was terribly sick and still sick as of this day but I'm relieved that he does not vomit anymore and actually eating normally.  He just slept the whole day away on the first inset of flu and only took water all the time.  Fever went down but still coughing like a seal ..... and yesterday he started sneezing and sneezing :(

As a mother, I'm restless when my only child is sick .... always checking on him and that's the main reason why I was not able to post my project on-time.  I had plans of posting it as soon as my son falls asleep at night but I, too, falls asleep (all the time) beside hime and we both would wake up the sun is already shining high and bright.

Anyway, 2 days ago I played with my Word Collage Cricut Cartridge.  Like any of my carts, I also love this one .... so many possibilities, right?  I've seen some projects using vinyl with this cart and that I have to try someday with courage =)

 

For my first play with this cart, I covered an old 12 x 12 canvas board =)

The sides were accentuated with lavender Stickles as well as the antenna of the word Cricut.  I also adhered a vintage lace from my stash.  Hhhmmmm, I have not decided yet as to whether hang it or just let it stand.  I wonder when will I get to play with this cart again =)

Shoe Case with Heels

How's your week-end?  Mine was just fine except that both my parents-in-law are sick so the usual Saturday we have with them is cancelled for the meantime until they're both healthy.  I, for one, feels that soon I will be sick but hoping of all hopes that I did not get the virus when I brought my DFIL at the main hospital in an ambulance last week due to influenza.  I was informed by the doctor that I have to observe myself within 14 days and if I'm lucky well and good, right?

Anyway, the sun has been shining really bright here and we are embracing every moment of the day for the past week.  In line with celebrating National Craft Month for the whole month of March, I try my best to create something everyday.  I also vowed that I will create some items using my Cricut Cartridges so I have something to share now since I did play with one of my carts the other day.  Since I only post in this site related to Cricut, one will not be able to see all the creations I made and will be making but anyone is free to visit my general site at SCRAPIHAPILICIOUSME =)

For my project I made a case for the necklace I made for a friend who turned 30.  I finally decided to use my latest acquired cartridge Princess Party =)  When I saw this cart I fell in love with the 3D shoe.  I don't have a daughter but being a shoe lover I knew I have to have the cart!

 I made a cut at 7 1/2 inches and assembled the shoe.  Since I was half awake and half asleep I had no idea how to embellish the shoe.  I didn't want to go overboard coz I want to maintain the elegance and simplicity of the shoe playing on my mind.  In my mind I want to incorporate stamping so I checked my Greeting Farm stamps and took Camille then I took the courage in using my PrismaColor pencils.  I have the big set for about 3 years now and embarrassing  to say it's actually my first time to use it.  I was apprehensive to use it but there's always a first time.  I believe I will use it more for now instead of my Copics - my coloring is kind'a rusty now, that's why.  Overall I'm happy the way it turned out but as I've said I will practice more coz it could have been better.

Now for the shoe itself, I embellished it with flower then attached a brad.  From there, I added crystals and wrapped around a lace.  The heel part is the coolest coz that's where I attached the stamped image (as shown above) and added few crystal beads.  Oh it didn't end there coz something is missing from the shoe itself...I felt that it was naked so thanks to Ellen Hutson who once shared a pattern for shoe lining in one of the shoes she created.

 The tag was made by using Just Rite stamp : From My Kitchen Set then punched scallop using Stampin' Up then layered with another punched scallop.

That's the birthday girl when we had a simple gathering at her place last Saturday =)  The pictures are blurred coz I was already drunk =)  Oh she actually wore the necklace this day at work and I was so happy to see that she truly appreciate my handmade gift =)

Precious Son LO - Revamp!

I believe this will be the last revamping I will do for this year because I really have to work on with our Christmas decorations here at home.  So many ideas in my brain but I need to narrow it down.  First of all I have to have a final decision on what Christmas theme we're having this year.  My son has been asking me almost everyday and I couldn't give him a definite answer ... yet.  Well, I still have this day to make a final decision then create then decorate.  Everything has to be up by December 1, which reminds me it is also hubby's birthday.

I just love the revamp layout and it really made me smile =)  The little boy climbing the tree is a cut from My Community Cricut Cartridge and the sentiment "Great Boy" is a cut I made using Graphically Speaking Cricut Cartridge.

Sweet Amanda - Revamp

Yesterday was a lazy day for me and it has always been like that if it is a Sunday.  I would sleep till 11am but yesterday I woke up at 12nn.  Yeah I know what you're gonna say - wasted hours for crafting ... and that's exactly how I felt.  When I woke up hubby was busy tinkering his motorbike while Joseph is watching his favorite cartoon at the living room.  Looking at our wall clock my goodness it's time for lunch and I bet my men at home are hungry.  I hurriedly made ground meat omelet served with fried rice and sliced cucumber on the side.

After lunch I made a decision to revamp Amanda's framed picture at our wall but my mind is screaming for chocolate bar.  I desperately search for a bar at home coz I usually have candies everywhere heheheheehe but no chocolate.  I locked myself in the bedroom very very sad almost in tears (true!) and that's how hubby found me.  Naturally he asked what's wrong and after explaining to him that I'm desperately craving for a chocolate but all we have are gummy and hard candies.  Yeah he laughed and told me to buy instead.  Two blocks away we have a gasoline store and they have a mini grocery,too.  Your guess is right!  I put on a thick jacket coz it's freezingly cold and walked so fast to the store and bought the bars I think I like for the day.

When I got back hubby was not at home anymore coz it's his time and day for the gym ... Gustaf is in his room ... my son is still watching TV but this time in his room.  Oooohhh-la-la ...yummy-yummy .... I ate the first bar and super satisfied. Feeling happy after a bar of chocolate I was then in the mood to revamp an old scrapbook tradional layout of my step-daughter Amanda.  She's 23 now and working in Norway.  We miss her from time to time but we know she's enjoying her life at Norway with her boyfriend.

I still used the original DP for the base as well as the band with buckle.  This time i filled the heart buckle with pearlmaker so it will look like a studded buckle.  I made a cut using Paper Lace Cricut Cartridge then added flowers I bought in Thailand last 2009 then adhered "bloom" and "scatter joy" chipboards which I also added crycstal glaze so it looks like a bubble sticker.  For the word "Sweetie", I made a cut using Lovestruck Cricut Cartridge Solution.

I believe it's way much better this time =)

PINAY Layout - Revamped

Here's another revamped LO I made.  I'm happy with the reults and I think it will take several years before I get tired with it and revamp again.  I mainly used Forever Young Cricut Cartridge ... used pastel glittered alpha chipboards.

With this previous LO I adhered acrylic jumbo flowers and jumbo sequins, a native hat and a pendant that says Världens Bästa Mamma (The Worlds' Best Mom) plus the diamond studded ruby earings my mom gave to me.

Revamping A Layout : Always and Forever

I finally decided to revamp one of our framed pictures at home.  It was year 2007 when I made the layout with only but few tools and materials.  As months and years passes by I get to acquire lots of items and was indeed opened to the real world of paper crafting.  Looking at my past layouts, I am itchy to revamp most of it and so I started with our simple wedding picture taken 2002 of September.

The Angel with an arrow is a cut I did using Love Struck Solution cartridge.

The sentiment "Always and Forever" is a cut using Sentimental Cricut cartridge.
